York University’s Faculty of Science is 50 years old and we are celebrating our female alumnae and our current students at this event. Many women have graduated from the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields at York University. This event will bring back women alumnae from the past 50 years to talk careers and families, with each other and our current students.
The goals of our Saturday 7th March 2015 event are:
- To connect all of our current science students, regardless of gender, with female alumnae to provide both community-building and networking opportunities.
- To showcase some of the diverse career paths that our female graduates have followed, many of which, may not be apparent to our current York science students.
For our main event, we have organized two dynamic panels for alumnae to share their experiences with the audience. We will be seeking an additional speaker–more details to follow shortly!. We have also arranged for a lunchtime conversation with a Science Career Advisor. In addition, throughout the day at the event, York University student STEM clubs will be showcasing highlights of their club activities.
This celebration is not affected by the Labour Dispute at York University. Please note that this event will be held as planned.
